Jasper Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council Project

Through a cooperative effort between the Dubois County Museum board and the Jasper Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council, the project is meant to liven up the side of the building. Our Optimist Club was a financial sponsor to this great group of young people developing their leadership skills through community service. Something that ties to one of our key purposes of Optimism (To aid and encourage the development of youth…). The end result was way and above the expectations as over 1000 people came out on either Sat., May 14 of Sun., May 15 to leave their mark on this wall.

People showed up in mass to leave their handprint on the wall creating the mural. Mayor Dean Vonderheide was there the entire time working with the Mayor’s Youth Council to insure organization and safety. The Museum had a large turnout of visitors (most ever). Our monthly Optimist sponsored Storytime at the Museum was held at 10:30 on Sat. 5/14
