Jasper Octagon Club Information

Octagon Club is getting up and running.  We held our first meeting the last Friday in August.  We have a record number of students signed up to be members of the club.  We are still waiting on dues payments and paperwork to verify the number of members for the year, but Mrs. Mehringer is very excited about the interest in the club.  Programs that we will be running again this year include our long standing Recess Buddies, the Reading Day program and Helping Hands.  We have also named our officers for this year. 

Recess Buddy committee is set to meet on Friday, September 11th to coordinate groups for our mentoring visits to the elementary schools.  We will be starting this program on Wednesday, September 23rd and will likely be in need of several volunteer drivers.  Please contact Jessica Mehringer via text if you are interested in being a driver for the Recess Buddy program.  812-630-9565

Helping Hands will be looking to put together take home food totes for Fall Break.  Helping Hands committee will be meeting the week of September 14th to plan for the year and to start planning contents of the take home tote for fall break.  If any club member would like make a donation to Helping Hands, we would appreciate the support.  The take home tote ensure that our peers at JHS have some food over fall break while not in school.  This is a really impactful program that is extremely appreciated by those who receive the totes. Donations may be mailed to JHS - write checks to JHS Octagon Club and send to Jasper High School, Jessica Mehringer, 1600 St. Charles Street, Jasper, IN  47546.  

Reading Day will be announced at the regular Octagon September meeting on Friday, September 25th during CCD (9:45-10:10).  We are looking forward to a great year with many amazing members!!
