Optimist Club of Jasper Youth of the Month - April 2023
The Optimist Club of Jasper Youth of the Month is a monthly recognition program for students in Jasper Middle and High Schools, recognizing students from each school, for their positive outlook and contribution to the community.
The Middle School Optimist Youth of the Month for April is Todd Dick.
Todd is the son of Carie and Chad Dick. He is an 8th grader at JMS. Todd is in his third year of bowling for the middle school team and they were state champs this past season. After high school, he hopes to bowl collegiately and pursue a career in welding.
The teacher that nominated Todd stated “He has to be one of the nicest and genuine young men to ever come through JMS. He is always happy to be in school. Very respectful to staff and peers. He is openly engaging to everyone around him. He has a natural charisma that is fun to be around. He makes everyone feel just a little bit better each and every day.”
The High School Optimist Club of Jasper Youth of the Month for April is Diana Cortez Sanchez.
Diana is a Junior at Jasper High School She is the daughter of Patricia Sanchez and Rene Vanegas.
Diana is in the Young Latinos Unidos and the JHS Octagon Club. After high school, she hopes to attend cosmetology school and continue to help out in her Latino community.
The teacher that nominated Diana said “I would like to nominate Diana Cortez Sanchez for her above and beyond work for Young Latinos Unidos, her community service at our front desk, and her willingness to help with anything around her.”
