Optimist Day Luncheon Celebration
February 5, 2026.
This was a lunch gathering with members and guests to celebrate Optmist Day, which is held on the first Thursday of February, every year. This is a special day for displaying optimism and random acts of kindness. Over 30 members were in attendance to listen to Mayor-Elect Ryan Craig (who will take office on March 31) share his thoughts on Optimists and how the Optimist Creed relates to our city and community.
Updates of our recent activities and many upcoming activities were provided as attendees were encouraged to review the Optimist newsletter each month, along with the web site. Kelly Kluesner was recognized for the great job she is doing with the rebranded newsletter and website. Amelia Schnell has joined the Marketing committee and will be assisting Kelly. Amelia was also recognized for her outstanding leadership of Youth Bowling program.
Jessica Mehringer provided an update on the many activities the JHS Octagon Club is doing. Each of the Octagon attendees introduced themselves and their leadership role.
Kent introduced guest John Ackerman who took pictures for us at the 50th celebration and presented him with a thank you gift.
Other guests recognized were Peyton Gentry, Sheryl and Janet Sendelweck. Ryan led the group in closing with the Optimist Creed.
Suzanna Linderman, Jessie and Justin Dwyer were recognized for their great effort on the 50th anniversary celebration.
