Respect for Law and Candlelight Memorial to be held May 13, 2026

Optimist Club of Jasper and Fraternal Order of Police #138 Wood Capital Lodge will hold its annual Respect for Law Dinner and Law Enforcement Candlelight Memorial Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at the Habig Center (1301 St. Charles St.) in Jasper.  Doors open at 6:30 and dinner is served at 7:00.  All members of local law enforcement are invited to attend.  Optimist members and others interested in showing their respect are also welcome.  

The event has been regularly held during National Police Week to honor local officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and recognize a local officer and a citizen for their work and support of law enforcement.

Recipients of the Respect for Law Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer Award, and Optimist Respect for Law Outstanding Citizen Award will also be announced and recognized at the gathering.
