2024 Tri-Star Basketball

UPDATE: Due to the inclement and continued cold temps we are moving the Tri-Star event to next Sunday, January 28th at Cabby ONeil. Registration starting at 12:00 pm 

The Optimist Club of Jasper will be hosting the Tri-Star Basketball Contest for boys and girls ages 8-13 on Saturday, January 20th in the Auxiliary Gymnasium at Jasper High School.  

• Registration starts at 11 a.m. and groups will be organized at 11:20, with competition beginning at 11:30 a.m.

• Boys can stay after youth hoops to participate, all others can use door 6 to enter the facility.

• This is a free event, you just need a pair of gym shoes!

• Dribbling, Passing and Shooting performances are recorded.

• Prizes are given in 3 age groups - 8/9, 10/11, 12/13

• Top Finishers have the opportunity to move on to the next level of competition and receive a trophy or medal

• Top Finishers will be recognized on the Optimist Club of Jasper website, our social media accounts and in the Herald.

• The Jasper Knights of Columbus will be holding their free throw contest immediately following our Tri Star Event - also in the Aux Gym.

• Registration form can be printed and fill out the top portion or they will also be available on site on Saturday.

Tri-Star Basketball is a district-wide skills competition for boys and girls age 8 – 13 that tests abilities in passing, shooting and dribbling. Optimist volunteers register kids in local competitions, set up the competition in a gymnasium, administer and score each kid’s effort and then provide awards to the winners. Local competitions are held in January and February and the 3 top scoring kids in each gender/age bracket (36 kids) are invited to compete in one of 4 Regional Competitions.
