Youth Softball Mental Attitude Award Presentation
June 16, 2025
Each year the optimist club of Jasper presents a mental attitude award for a player in the Major League of Youth softball. We have each coaching staff nominate one member of their team that personifies all of the things that the optimist stand for, including being positive, supportive, compassionate and always being great teammates and a true “good sport” / enjoying all the game has to offer.
Here are the nominees from each team.
1. Pirates: Landry Lueken She shows up every game with a smile on her face with positive energy and ready to go. She’s always asking how everyones day has been and is great at complimenting her teammates. In a season where we have been beat up every game and unable to find wins you would not be able to tell by the way she carries herself. When she gets a hit or makes a play, by the smile on her face you would think she just made the game winning play for a championship. Her excitement and energy is contagious and as a coach I am very thankful to have her on the team.
2. Athletics: Addie O’Connor The Athletics would like to nominate Addie O’Connor for the mental attitude award. Addie has improved greatly in her skill and confidence as the season has gone on. She has played multiple positions throughout the year and always had a great attitude. She is constantly asking questions to learn and understand the game better. She cheers on her teammates and always gives 100% effort. Her positive attitude and competitive nature are a perfect combination. She has been a joy to coach this year!
3. Diamondbacks: Rowan Lechner Diamondbacks would like to nominate Rowan Lechner for the Mental Attitude Award. Rowan has continued to be a valued member of our team throughout this season. She always shows up with a positive attitude. She is always hustling and doing what is asked of her. Playing pitcher and catcher, both pivotal positions, she does so with grace. She is a wonderful leader for the younger girls on our team!
4. Yankees: Eleanor Weber The Yankees nominate Eleanor Weber because she always has a positive attitude and is always smiling. She is very respectful to her coaches and cheers on her teammates. Eleanor never complains, listens to her coaches, and tries hard. If she doesn’t understand something, she asks questions, and wants to learn. She is always hustling and trying her very best.
5. Reds: Izzy Doty because she’s always talking to pump up the team.
Let’s give each of these young ladies, a huge round of applause. it’s a huge honor to be nominated for the award.
