Each year, the Optimist Club of Jasper has the opportunity to recognize members who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to our club, our community, and the children we serve.
This year, Club President Paul Eckert presented two special honors — Optimist of the Year and the President’s Award. Here are Paul’s words about this year’s deserving recipient:
President’s Award 2025/2026 — Jay Baker
This award goes out to an individual who has stood by me through the past few years and has graciously given me one more term. He has lead our team in the past and continues to lead behind the scenes. His drive to give back to the kids in our community inspires me. His dedication to the one event that gives so much back to our kids in the community is eye opening. You can feel the compassion in his heart each time his speaks about the event and how much it means to the children. He too is a very organized and well spoken individual with a desire to always help every chance he gets. I'm proud to call him a friend and a leader.
