Each year, the Optimist Club of Jasper has the opportunity to recognize members who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to our club, our community, and the children we serve.
This year, Club President Paul Eckert presented two special honors — Optimist of the Year and the President’s Award. Here are Paul’s words about this year’s deserving recipient:
Optimist of the Year 2025/2026 — Amelia Schnell
This award goes out to an individual who has truly been the most optimistic person I have ever met. This individual has completely jumped in getting both feet wet and hasn't stopped swimming. She came to our club after graduating college to give back to her community and the sport she loves. She also volunteered to be on our board for the 2024-2026 calendar years and continues that same commitment. Over this past year, she took on many new roles to ensure our club stayed prominent. Our marketing team was in need of some additional resources, so she volunteered. This past year was our 50th Anniversary and as a club we wanted a good showing for our Parade. She jumped on board without hesitation and chaired the parade float with the help of her mother. She is probably one of the most organized and energetic individuals I have ever met. I am truly looking forward to her future plans within our club, because she is a true leader and inspirational.
