Jasper Optimist Club Celebrates Optimist Day 2024
We hosted our #optimistday2024 Celebration Thursday, February 1, 2024 at The Playce Indoor Playground and Cafe!
Past President and current Indiana South District Optimist International Zone 6 Lt. Governor Melissa Eckert led the meeting for Club President Karlie Goller with a welcome, prayer and pledge of allegiance. Guests and leaders/members (21 in attendance) were introduced. Melissa reinforced Optimist Day and encouraged all members to do random acts of kindness in the community especially today…leading up to Random Acts of Kindness Day which is Feb. 17, 2024
Kent Reyling, Immediate Past Governor of the Indiana South District of Optimist International presented the Distinguished Club Citation to the Optimist Club of Jasper with special recognition and awards to President Melissa Eckert, shared year President Neil Broeker, Secretary Sherry Foster and Treasurer Jay Baker. This designates that the Club met all Honor and Distinguished Club criteria set out by Optimist International and increased membership significantly during the year.
An update of upcoming club activities was provided and voting on the updated Club By-Laws was approved unanimously.
New member sponsor pins were provided to several members with the highlight of a 5-member sponsorship pin to Ellie Kerstiens and 10-member to Justin Dwyer.
Featured speaker was Kevin Messmer, Co-Founder and Presentation by Kevin and Chief Legal Officer for TrueScripts on the subject of Volunteerism and how it can change your life. The three keys are:

The answer is in YOU!
This was a tremendous message for all in attendance and especially young people on how volunteerism can had so much positive impact on your life in working with and relating to other positive and caring people opening up great opportunities as well as providing personal satisfaction. You get more than you give.
Kevin Messmer was then inducted as the latest Optimist Club of Jasper member.
The program was concluded with the Optimist Creed and continued fellowship by the members as well as touring the Playce.
