Optimist Club of Jasper High School Youth of the Month - December 2024

The Optimist Club of Jasper Youth of the Month is a monthly recognition program for students in Jasper Middle and High Schools, recognizing students from each school, for their positive outlook and contribution to the community.

The High School Optimist Youth of the Month for November is Bernadine Dure.  Bernadine is the daughter of Bernard and Nadine Dure.  She is a Junior at Jasper High School.

Bernadine participates in Java and Jargon and the SOFA Club. During her free time, she enjoys writing poetry and short stories.  She also enjoys working in the library as its “unofficial-official assistant” and reading to the Little Wildcats when she is able to do so.  Bernadine plans on continuing in the nursing field by going to school to become an RN, so that she may continue her work in helping the elderly like she does now as a CNA.

The teacher that nominated Bernadine stated that she “nominated Bernadine because she joyfully meets all of the requirements:  Does a great job of making other people smile. Brings out the best in their peers, she is cheerful.  Helps in your classroom - either you or classmates. Is a positive person.  She is always ready with a smile and a hug for everyone.  She works as a CNA in the community and shares her joy and caring with that vulnerable community. In addition to being a great student,  Bernadine also regularly reads aloud to our Little Wildcats and keeps our JHS library in tip top shape by volunteering during her study hall.”

Congratulations, Bernadine!
