Optimist Club of Jasper Youth of the Month - April  2025

The Optimist Club of Jasper Youth of the Month is a monthly recognition program for students in Jasper Middle and High Schools, recognizing students from each school, for their positive outlook and contribution to the community.

The Middle School Optimist Youth of the Month for April is Maria Jillian Ekong.  Jillian is an 8th Grader at Jasper Middle School.  She is the daughter of Linda and Eric Ekong.

Jillian is a part of the JMS Business Professionals of America and competed at the state competition.  She is in Performing Arts at JMS and just performed in “Finding Nemo, Jr.”  She has also worked with the high school theater.  Jillian is a member of the JMS Track Team, Art Club, and Band.  She is in Confirmation Classes at her church.  She enjoys singing, drawing, playing video games, writing, playing on the trampoline and skating.  Jillian is keeping her career path opportunities open with options of becoming an Artist, Singer, Author, Teacher, or something in Law Enforcement.

The teacher that nominated Jillian stated that she “always has her work completed and it is always done well.  She participates in class as well.  Jillian is a joy to be around!”
